ORLANDO, Fla. -

In lieu of Veterans Day weekend coming up, UCF prepares to dedicate one of its new buildings on campus that houses Classroom II and the headquarters for the ROTC program.

The dedication will take place on Friday at 4 p.m. and last until 5:30 p.m.

The building is three stories and is situated right next to Memory Mall. The UCF Air Force and Army ROTC programs anticipate moving into their part of the building, operating out of a small area on campus near the Recreation and Wellness Center.

Their facility features a 40-by-40-foot room called the “Virtual Battlelab,” which is an open area with a variety of computerized simulators. On the first floor, there will be a "Heritage Hall," which will provide students with a quiet place to study and showcase ROTC and military heritage. All the other floors in the building will be home to offices, conference rooms, study areas and storage.

The new building is also located within walking distance to the Veterans Commemorative Site and the Veterans Academic Resource Center.

G.I. Jobs magazine ranked UCF, in September 2013, as a "military friendly school" -- a school or institution that best supports student veterans and offer them outstanding education and a welcoming atmosphere.
