UCF issues alert after armed home invasion at off-campus complex

Incident happened Saturday night at off-campus affiliated housing complex

ORLANDO, Fla. – A safety alert was issued Saturday night by the University of Central Florida after an armed home invasion at an off-campus affiliated housing complex.

UCF police arrived about 9:40 p.m. Saturday at Knights Circle. Authorities said the invasion happened at a unit with the door propped open. The victim's roommate alerted the resident assistant about it.

No injuries were reported in the incident. UCF police were on-site Saturday evening.

The university said it sent out a safety alert in an abundance of caution.

Officials alerted those near the campus after 10 p.m. Saturday to stay inside and to call 911 if the gunman was seen.

The gunman was described as a black man who is 6 feet tall and wore a blue jacket.
