ORLANDO, Fla. -

University of Central Florida police continue to search for a man they say sexually assaulted a woman in a parking garage.

Police say they sent out a campus alert after a female victim reported the sexual assault just after 1 a.m. Sunday.  Police said the attack happened on the first floor of Parking Garage B.

UCF police said the man and woman met off campus at Knights Pub on Alafaya Trail and exchanged phone numbers and returned to the garage together when the attack occurred.

The victim says she was raped in the man's car in the parking garage.

Investigators described the attacker as a white male, 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a medium build and blond hair. He was last seen wearing a red shirt.  UCF police said he may go by the name Ted and may have left in a four door, dark-colored car.

No additional details were immediately available.

Many students told Local 6 they're worried about the attack and shocked it happened in such a busy area. The parking garage is located between two sets of residence halls and across the street from a gym used by students.

“Although the investigation continues, we do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the campus community,” said UCF spokesperson Grant J. Heston.

Although a university spokesman said all students should have received an alert about the reported sex crime on their phones and via email, many say they didn't get the message.

Local 6 asked the university if there was a problem with the campus alert system and a spokesman said he was not aware of one. He did say the university would look into any issues.

The spokesman explained the emergency alerts go out automatically to all registered students, but students may opt out of the alerts.
