UCF-area Kyoto latest in string of Orange, Seminole burglaries
Deputies say man broke into restaurant with blunt object
A man broke in to a UCF-area Kyoto Sushi and Grill early Thursday morning, getting away with a cash drawer filled with about $130, deputies said.
The smash-and-grab break-in might be the latest in a string of similar incidents that occurred in Orange and Seminole counties during the past couple of weeks.
Orange County Sheriff's detectives said a 45- to 55-year-old white male broke into the restaurant, using a blunt object, possibly a rock, brick or mop, to smash a glass door and gain entry.
After taking the cash drawer, the man fled in a light-colored vehicle, possibly a Hyundai, deputies said. The whole incident took about 30 seconds.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office posted surveillance video of the incident on its website, hoping someone can identify the suspected burglar.
Deputies who reviewed surveillance footage said the man is about 6 feet tall with a distinctive limp. They urged anyone with information about this or any other break-ins in the area to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
