CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - A Delta IV rocket was launched Wednesday night from Cape Canaveral Air Force station, according to United Launch Alliance officials.
The U.S. Air Force's 45th Space Wing was scheduled to launch the 217-foot rocket carrying the fifth Wideband Global Satcom satellite at 8:29 p.m. from space complex 37B.
The launch is the 73rd since Boeing and Lockheed Martin formed United Launch Alliance in December 2006, merging the Delta and Atlas rocket families.
It is the sixth of 12 this year, and the second of four planned in a nine-week span.
