The jump marks a $3 -- or 3.4 percent -- increase, and makes Universal the first theme park in Orlando to raise its base price above $90.

With tax included, the price to Universal now costs about $98.

Single-day tickets to both Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure rose from $124 to $128.

The price hike, which took effect over the weekend, comes days before guest-testing is expected to begin for the park's new Transformers attraction.  The Simpsons area at Universal is also slated to open this year, and an expansion to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter Part is scheduled to open in 2014.

Prices for one-day admission to Walt Disney World and SeaWorld Orlando remain at $89.
