ORLANDO, Fla. -

Orange County Fire Rescue is responding to a building evacuation at the University of Central Florida.

An alert from the university was sent out at about 2 p.m. on Tuesday saying, "Education Building evacuated due to smoke in the building. Police responding. Stay clear of the area."

Firefighters said that the smoke came from a malfunctioning air conditioning unit.

UCF sent out a second alert around 3 p.m. telling students that they could return to the building.
