Video: Man robs Ormond Beach home

Man hit 3 homes hit in 1 night, authorities say

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – A man was caught on video trying to break into a home in Ormond Beach and he's still on the loose, possibly targeting other homes. It happened in the area around North Saint Andrews Drive, south of US 1.

A man attempted to break into the home of Blanche Parks around 8 p.m. Saturday night. Her video cameras capture everything as the man spends 30 minutes trying to break in, all while Parks watched TV in her living room.

"I was completely floored that there was someone in here and I didn't know it," said Parks. "He was completely silent. I did not know their was anyone there at all."

In the video you can see him trying to pry his way in through Parks' bedroom window. But most of the time he just paces back and forth waiting for the right time to strike.

The man was wearing cargo shorts, a white shirt, baseball cap and multi colored tennis shoes.

"It's a violation to have someone come in your home," said Parks. "Even if you didn't lose anything, it's a violation," says Parks.

At one point, the man wandered inside her patio and then finally saw a camera and quickly walked away, but he wasn't done. The man hit up another home down the street, breaking in quietly through a back window and stealing jewelry and personal information, all while the homeowner was inside.

Parks said a third home was also hit on her street.

"We had three homes hit on this street that night and we need to stop this individual," said Parks.

The break-ins have left neighbors uneasy.

"It's very scary," said neighbor Larry Bartlett. "We're not used to this in this neighborhood. To hear about this is shocking, really."

Ormond Beach Police were able to get fingerprints off the patio door, but are still looking for clues on who this guy may be. Anyone with any information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 386-277-TIPS.
