Investigators say the collision happened at the intersection of Orange Blossom Trail and Southland Blvd. at 2:30 a.m. and was caused by the driver of a Toyota Prius, 30 year old James Maddux.

Troopers say they pulled over Maddux who they suspected was driving drunk.  When they asked him to step out of the vehicle, Maddux is seen in the video taking off in his Prius.

He led police on a pursuit that spanned only about one-and-a-half miles before his Prius hit a station wagon, throwing the drivers of both vehicles out of the car.

Maddux was listed in critical condition on Thursday.  The driver of the other vehicle along with two others injured in the crash were all released from the hospital with minor injuries.

Maddux faces a long list of charges that include possible DUI, fleeing from a police officer and others.
