Video shows bartender dragging 84-year-old woman out of bar

Florida woman fired for incident

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. – Police call it a bartender beatdown caught on camera.

An 84-year-old woman was dragged across the floor and tossed out of a club in a dispute over whether a band's speakers were too loud.

New Port Richey police say the victim was taken to a hospital with with several open wounds, lacerations and bruises on her arms.

According to a police report, the elderly woman's boyfriend complained to band members that their performance was too loud. The bartender, 56-year-old Patricia Smith, said that upset the band, so she told the couple to complain to her or management in the future, police said.

According to Smith, the older woman slapped her and tried to rip her clothes off.  That was not captured by cameras, however.

Smith said she never meant to hurt the 84-year-old, but added that she was also a victim in the dispute, according to police.   Smith claimed the older woman's boyfriend grabbed her by the throat and choked her.

As a result of the incident, Smith was fired.
