Video shows Daytona Beach commissioner fighting with restaurant manager

Commissioner Carl Lentz already under fire after strip club visit

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – Video was released on Tuesday showing a Daytona Beach city commissioner getting into a fight at an Ormond Beach restaurant, one day after Local 6 reported he was under fire for a trip to a strip club.

Commissioner Carl Lentz was shown in video released from Daytona Beach police on Monday late last Thursday inside Club Topic, a strip club on International Speedway Boulevard, where he's accused by the owner of seeking sex in exchange for political influence.

In the video of the fight, months before the strip club incident released Tuesday, Lentz throws punches at the manager of Lulu's Oceanside Grill.

According to police, the manager confronted Lentz after he thought Lentz called his sister something derogatory. At one point, Lentz asked, "Do you know who I am?"

Lentz later told officers he was defending himself while the manager says he punched Lentz in the face to protect his sister after Lentz grabbed her.

According to Lentz's attorney, Lauren Koleilat, both Lentz and the manager later acknowledged the club incident was a misunderstanding and no charges were filed against either party.

"No charges have been filed in either occurrence," Koleilat said. "These matters are being blown out of proportion due to my client's status as a public figure."

Local 6 reached out to the Daytona Beach mayor and several commissioners but has not received a response from any of them.

The next city commission meeting will be held on April 2.
