Willie Hollis, described by deputies as a habitual traffic offender, was arrested Monday after driving to the Orange County Jail complex for a probation hearing. Deputies said Hollis was not permitted to be driving.

Hollis, 31, was placed in a holding area while a deputy completed paperwork, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, which added that Hollis then apparently walked around a glass enclosure and sprinted to a vehicle, possibly driven by his girlfriend.

Authorities are also searching for his girlfriend.

In the video released Tuesday, Hollis bolts out of the lobby of the booking center and is seen in the parking lot running to a car.

Hollis was able to elude deputies and was last seen driving a gray 2008 Nissan Altima with a New York license plate.

A spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff's Office said he was not able to explain how Hollis escaped under the deputy's watch. The incident is under review.

Investigators have said they are looking into changes to the lobby's security to prevent a similar incident from happening again.

"Anytime something like this happens, we always evaluate our policies and procedures with respect to public safety. When we receive the deputy's report, we will evaluate them at that time," an Orange County Sheriff's Office spokesman said.

Local 6 has learned Hollis has been on the run from police before. Back in 2012, Orlando Police searched for him after accusing him of kidnapping his wife at the time.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Hollis has been arrested several times since 2009 on charges including grand theft auto, false imprisonment, rape, drug possession and theft.

Hollis was described as a black man about 5 feet 10 inches tall with dreadlocks.

Anyone with details about Hollis' whereabouts is asked to call the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
