DeLAND, Fla. – From their sound, to what they call themselves, "Roadkill Ghost Choir" is a unique rock band.
"We went through a whole bunch of terrible band names before 'Roadkill Ghost Choir' that stuck, which, people hate that band name too," said Andrew Shepard, the lead singer.
Made up of three brothers, Andrew, Maxx, and Zach Shepard, and their two friends, Kiffy Meyers and Stephen Garza, the band incorporates a banjo and pedal steel into their music.
They started playing together just three years ago.
Since then, their original song, "Beggars Guild," went viral, they signed with Wolfbomb Records in New York, and now, they say they'll be performing on the Late Show with David Letterman on January 16.
"It was pretty shocking and exciting, and a surprise," said Shepard.
The guys left their jobs and have been spending twelve hours a day in the studio.
"I was working at Universal Studios, in a gift shop," said Stephen Garza, lead guitarist.
Shepard hopes their national debut will put them on even bigger stages.
"People hearing us, that's all we can ask for, and whether they hate us or love us, it's a cool opportunity," he said.
The band is currently working on their second album and they hope it will be available on iTunes in April.
