A suspicious substance that forced the front lobby of the Volusia County jail to be locked down was found not to be harmful, officials said.

Volusia County officials said white powder was found on a piece of mail at the jail, which is located at 1300 Red John Drive in Daytona Beach.

The Volusia County hazmat team, along with units from Volusia County Fire Services and Daytona Beach Fire Rescue, inspected the substance and deemed it to be safe.
