Volusia County man arrested in string of home burglaries

Police say burglar would throw items not sold in canal

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – Ormond Beach police say they have arrested a man they say is responsible for ransacking nearly a dozen homes and tossing some items into a canal.

Daniel Faulk, 33, was charged on Friday with felony burglary and grand theft in the daytime burglaries near Cordova Avenue, Sylvania Place and Ridgewood Avenue.

Police said Faulk broke into homes and stuffed items such as flat-screen TVs, jewelry, computers and money into a pillowcase.

When Faulk found items he couldn't use, sell or trade, police say he threw them into a canal in Holly Hill.

Numerous items in the canal have been recovered and put on display for victims of the burglaries to identify.

Additional charges are forth coming, according to police.

Faulk was taken to Volusia County jail.
