DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A plan to help get a permanent homeless shelter off the ground in Daytona Beach has hit a snag.
According to the News Journal, the Volusia County Council on Thursday voted down a proposal to help cover operating costs on the proposed shelter.
The vote comes a day after Daytona Beach city commissioners said they would put up $4 million if the county offered a similar investment.
Recently, dozens of people had to be moved into a temporary shelter after they camped out in front of a county building for weeks.
While the county voted against funding the shelter, commissioners say they will reconsider the plan once they get more information.
