Chioji underwent surgery in Orlando on Tuesday to remove the mass and is now facing five weeks of radiation.
Following her surgery, Chioji sat down with our partners at Growing Bolder to discuss her latest diagnosis- Thymic Carcinoma- a rare, fast-growing cancer of the Thymus gland, which sits directly behind the breast bone.
"You can't let it take over in your life, you can't," Chioji said. "And I thought, how can this happen to me again, it was totally unrelated to the breast cancer. She said once you have had, whatever it is triggering, you are more likely for it to happen. And it struck twice and with this rare one, it could happen again. But I am not going to live afraid, I've got too many things to do."
Chioji was first diagnosed with breast cancer 12 years ago, won that battle and traded in her news anchor job to become a competitive triathlete, fitness coach and Livestrong advocate.
