MORRO BAY, Calif. -

A group of divers narrowly avoided becoming lunch when two humpback whales came within inches of swallowing them.

The group was diving at Souza Rock off the coast of Central California. One of the divers was recording the moments when they initially saw whales swimming nearby.

Moments later, the divers saw large groups of fish quickly swimming around them. Suddenly, two whales emerged with their mouths open to snack on the groups of fish.

"It's like two mountains erupted out of the water in front of me," one of the divers told CBS This Morning.

The video shows the two divers quickly swimming back to their boat to climb to safety.

"You're going to have to do more to clean that wetsuit," one of the cameramen says.
