Windermere police officer accused of racial profiling reinstated

Yearlong investigation finds 1 of 3 officers accused didn't violate policy

WINDERMERE, Fla. – A Windermere police officer accused of racial profiling will return to active duty after a nearly yearlong investigation found he did not violate department policy.

Officer Ryan Miller was accused with two other officers, Jason Darnell and Alejandro Rivera, of racially profiling African American drivers, calling them "bravos."

The investigation found using the word was inappropriate but doesn't suggest certain groups were targeted.

Miller will be reinstated as a full-time officer on patrol, according to police.

The investigation on Darnell and Rivera is ongoing.
