Windermere police officer slaying suspects committed suicide, officials say

Medical examiner says cause of death for Brandon Goode, Alex Hollinghurst was gunshot wound to head

WINDERMERE, Fla. - The medical examiner said Wednesday that the manner of death for the two teens suspected in the slaying of a Windermere police officer was suicide.

According to the Orange County Medical Examiner's office, the cause of death for both Brandon Goode and Alex Hollinghurst were a single gunshot wound to the head. Both Goode and Hollinghurst's manners of death were ruled suicide.

Polk County sheriff's deputies said 18-year-old Goode and 17-year-old Hollinghurst, both of Davenport, were found dead on March 22 in the bushes near Conroy/Windermere Road after the shooting.  The duo, who had been considered missing and endangered, is suspected of shooting and killing Windermere police Officer Robert German.

The toxicology report on the teens could take 30-90 days, officials said.
