Winter Park high school coach accused of molesting student

Ashley Sinclair Brown arrested on several charges, released from jail

WINTER PARK, Fla. – A 29-year-old Winter Park High School girls basketball coach was released from jail Friday evening after being arrested on suspicion of having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Ashley Sinclair Brown was arrested Thursday on charges of lewd or lascivious molestation on a victim less than 16, lewd or lascivious conduct by a person 18 years or older, transmission of material harmful to minors, contributing to the delinquency of a child and attempted extortion.

Winter Park police said they received a complaint on June 14 from the girl's parents about the relationship, which they said involved inappropriate texting and touching, including at the Winter Park High School 9th Grade Center.

According to a charging affidavit, Brown sent text messages to the girl, requesting nude photos and videos of her performing lewd acts. Police said Brown forced the victim to delete the evidence from her phone, but investigators say they were able to retrieve the messages and pictures.

Brown also touched the girl's private parts while they were at school, according to the affidavit.

Police said Brown also threatened the girl by telling her he would spread rumors about her and post inappropriate pictures of her online if she didn't send him a video of herself.

After an investigation, Brown was arrested at his Winter Park home and taken to the Orange County Jail. He was in the process of bonding out of jail on Friday evening.

Police said it does not appear that there were any other victims.
