WINTER PARK, Fla. - Central Florida's billion-dollar SunRail project will take a big step forward Monday as one of its future hubs opened.
Crews in Winter Park unveiled the first SunRail station of the 12 stops in the first phase of the commuter train project. The new station will serve Amtrak passengers until SunRail riders get on board in May.
Steve Conald says he may ride SunRail: "Probably going downtown, alternative travel so we don't have to drive everywhere."
When the $1.3 billion project opens in May, riders will be able to travel from DeBary in Volusia County to Sandlake Road in Orange County. The SunRail project could help decrease traffic on Interstate 4.
