Winter Springs school teacher accused of sending inappropriate emails to student

26-year-old Daniel Kelley arrested after sending emails to 14-year-old student, police say

WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. – A 26-year-old Winter Springs school teacher was arrested Friday on allegations of sending sexually-related emails to a 14-year-old girl.

Daniel Kelley, who teaches at Bridges Academy, a private school in Winter Springs, was arrested after the student's dad found what Seminole County Sheriff's deputies said were "disturbing emails" while monitoring his daughter's account.

Deputies said hundreds of emails were exchanged between Kelley and the girl, who attends Bridges Academy, from May to early September.

Kelley was arrested on charges of transmitting harmful info to minors and using a computer to seduce a minor.

The Seminole County Sheriff's Office urged parents to be vigilant about teaching their children about cyber safety.

"Our parents have been shocked our community has been shocked we are very disappointed in this whole situation," said executive director Jacqueline Egli.

"He seemed like a nice teacher, but it's deceiving to people," said Lenore Barra, whose grandson attends Bridges Academy. "You never know what they're like."

Kelley has since bonded out of Seminole County jail.
