Woman, 21, struck on head during home invasion near UCF, deputies say

Deputies: 2 men break into apartment, demand property

ORLANDO, Fla. – A 21-year-old woman was hospitalized after she suffered an injury to her head during a home invasion near the University of Central Florida, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies said the woman and an 18-year-old man were in an apartment at the Campus Crossing complex on Blue Cahill Lane just after 1 a.m. when two men entered and demanded property from the victims.

One of the men was armed with a gun and the other had another weapon, deputies said. 

Authorities said one of the intruders hit the woman on the head and stole her belongings. The men then fled.

The woman was taken to Oviedo Hospital and the man inside the apartment with her was not injured, deputies said.

The Sheriff's Office said the incident was still being investigated.
