Woman, 79, thrown from vehicle during Brevard carjacking, police say

Melbourne police search for man, woman, Lincoln Town Car

MELBOURNE, Fla. – An 79-year-old woman was thrown from her vehicle and carjacked after being forced to drive a couple to a home in Brevard County, police said.

The carjacking was reported at 1:15 a.m. in Melbourne.

According to Melbourne police, the woman was leaving her home on Lipscomb Street when she was approached by a man and woman. The pair got into the woman's Lincoln Town Car and told her to drive them to a house on Grant Street, police said.

After arriving at the home, the man tried to take the victim's car keys, but she would not give them up, police said. The man then threw the woman of the vehicle and the duo drove away, police said.

The victim suffered minor injuries, police said.

The assailants were described by police as a black man with a scruffy beard who was wearing dark clothing and a black woman with long hair.

The woman's vehicle was described as a blue 2004 Lincoln Town Car with the Florida tag 314-LUN.

This story has been corrected with the victim's age. The police report said she is 80 years old, but she told News 6 she turned 79 on Nov. 28.
