Woman, 80, crashes into Hallmark store in Brevard

Troopers say minor injuries reported

MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. – An 80-year-old woman crashed into a Hallmark store Monday morning on Merritt Island.

Joanne Youngblood, of Rockledge, was ticketed for careless driving in the crash, which occurred around 9:30 a.m. at 125 E. Merritt Island Causeway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said Youngblood hit the gas pedal instead of the brakes as she was parking and clipped another car before crashing into the store.

Pictures from the scene show glass scattered across the store.

The 60-year-old driver of the other car suffered minor injuries, the FHP said.

The FHP said it will recommended that Youngblood take a driver's re-exam.

Troopers said there was no structural damage to the building.
