Woman arrested in fatal hit-and-run crash in Orlando

Officers find body lying in road

ORLANDO, Fla. – A 24-year-old woman was arrested Monday in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Orlando, according to police.

Rose Darlaine Pierre faces charges of vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of a crash involving death and attempted destruction of physical evidence.  Orlando police said she may also face an additional DUI charge.

"It appears the driver left the lane and struck the pedestrian off the side of the travel lane," said Roger Brennan of Orlando Police Department.

Officers were called by motorists around 10:20 p.m. and found a body lying on Kirkman Road near Conroy Road.  The victim has not yet been identified, police said.

The vehicle involved in the crash was later fond in a nearby apartment complex, police said.

Northbound lanes of Kirkman Road were closed in the area for hours before reopening around 6:35 a.m. Monday.

An investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information about the crash is urged to call Orlando police.
