Woman arrested on murder charge after body found off International Drive in Orlando

Isabel Garcia faces 2nd-degree murder charge

ORLANDO, Fla. – A 39-year-old woman was arrested on murder charges in the death of a man whose body was found off International Drive in Orlando.

Isabel Garcia was arrested around 4 a.m. Thursday on charges of second-degree murder with a weapon in the death of 35-year-old Carlos Vidal.  A medical examiner ruled the cause of death as blunt impact to the head.

Orange County sheriff's deputies say Garcia is the mother of two children who were fathered by Vidal.

Vidal's body was discovered by a father and son late Sunday in a wooded area owned by Marriott in the 11600 block of International Drive, not far from SeaWorld Orlando.

According to an Orange County arrest affidavit, Vidal's body was found in a supine position with his legs up and feet on the ground.  His head, arms and upper torso were concealed in two black trash bags, the affidavit said.

The report also stated that Vidal had a fractured skull.

Orange County sheriff's deputies said Garcia was interviewed by investigators and her story conflicted with what her sons -- ages 7 and 10 -- told authorities.  She later confessed, according to the arrest affidavit, which did not provide any of those details.

The report also stated that Garcia said Vidal threatened to take the boys and move to Chicago or Mexico.

Deputies said blood was found in Garcia's bedroom and a mattress with a large blood stain was found in a dumpster near her home.

Garcia will appear in front of a judge on Thursday afternoon.
