Woman calls 911 after being pistol whipped in Jimmy John's parking lot

Police release composite sketch of assailant

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – Ormond Beach Police are looking for a man who pistol-whipped a woman and robbed her outside a Jimmy John's restaurant Wednesday morning.

The attack happened around 6:30 a.m. as the woman was arriving to work at the Jimmy John's located at 300 West Granada Boulevard.

Police say the employee was trying to lock up her bicycle on a bike rack when she was hit with a silver or chrome firearm on her head and face.

The suspect took the woman's cell phone before fleeing on foot.

Police are not identifying the woman, but say she got a good look at the man, and was able to help come up with a composite sketch.

The suspect is described as an unshaven black male in his 30's with a thin build, short hair and approximately 6"5" tall. He was last seen wearing what was described as Army green baggy clothes and a skull cap.

After the attack, the woman was able to call 911.

"He had a gun and he hit me," the victim told a dispatcher.

"Okay, listen, listen, listen, take a deep breath and calm down," said the dispatcher who was trying to figure out what happened.

"He just took my phone, he just took my phone," said the victim.

Dispatcher: "Okay, and you said he hit you in the face with a gun?"

Victim: "Yeah."

Dispatcher: "Ok, are you bleeding?"

Victim: "Yeah."

The victim is expected to be okay, but officers searched for the man on the ground and in the air to no avail.

"It's pretty shocking, really," said Nicole Dodd, who works at another restaurant nearby.

"I'll probably be a lot more careful. Actually look around and always have somebody walk me," said Dodd.

Dodd's co-worker, Renee Leemon, agreed.

"It's scary," said Leemon.  "It could happen to anyone, no matter how safe of an area you live in."
