Woman carjacked outside store, Osceola County deputies say

Carjacker abandoned vehicle 20 miles away

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Osceola County Sheriff's deputies are on the hunt for a violent carjacker who authorities say injured a woman and stole her rental car.

The woman, whose name has not been released, had just left the T.J. Maxx store on W. U.S. 192 in Kissimmee around 9 p.m. Tuesday.

As she was getting into her rental car, a man opened up the passenger door and climbed inside, according to deputies.

The woman said the carjacker held up a knife and ordered her to drive to a bank. The woman told the carjacker she was not from the Kissimmee area and did not have a local bank account.

During a struggle with the carjacker, the woman's wrist was injured, according to deputies.

As the woman jumped out of the car, the man drove off with it. Deputies later found the stolen car abandoned behind a tire store on South Orange Blossom Trail near Holden Avenue, more than 20 miles away from where the carjacking occurred.

Deputies recovered surveillance video from the T.J. Maxx which shows the suspected carjacker entering and leaving the store. He's in his early 20s, is 5 feet 8 inches tall and has a thin build. He was wearing a black jacket and jeans.
