Woman cut boyfriend's ponytail during fight, Palm Bay police say

Andrea S. Prakhin arrested on battery charges

PALM BAY, Fla. – A Palm Bay woman was arrested on suspicion of cutting off her boyfriend's ponytail during an argument.

Local 6 News partner Florida Today reports the incident occurred at the couple's apartment on Southe Mercury Avenue SE. Mercury Avenue runs parallel to Babcock Street near the Interstate 95 overpass.

A police report says Andrea S. Prakhin, 34, and her boyfriend were arguing when Prakhin grabbed her boyfriend by his hair and sliced off his ponytail. The woman allegedly then began punching the man, and then watched as her son struck the man as well.

The report says Prakhin then chased the man from the apartment.

Prakhin faces a charge of battery-domestic violence, a misdemeanor. She posted bond and was released from Brevard County jail last week.
