DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - A woman fell seven stories to her death Tuesday morning from a Daytona Beach hotel balcony, according to police.

Daytona Beach police said the woman fell at 1:15 a.m. at the Daytona Beach Club Hotel on North Atlantic Avenue.

Authorities received a call about a jumper. When they arrived, they said guests told them that they heard a couple arguing just minutes before the 50-year-old woman fell.

“One witness, specifically on the beach side, witnessed her hanging from the balcony and a male hanging on to her arms,” Deputy Chief Jakari Young said. “It sounds like he was more or less trying to pull her back up, but we're just trying to determine exactly what happened."

The woman's boyfriend is cooperating with police and was interviewed at the Daytona Beach Police station.

Detectives determined later on Tuesday that the woman's death was suicide.

Police said they do not know if alcohol played a role in the incident.
