Woman, Good Samaritan shot in possible robbery in Orlando

48-year-old suffers life-threatening injuries, Orange County deputies say

ORLANDO, Fla. – A Good Samaritan trying to help a woman who was shot while possibly being robbed in Orlando was also shot and wounded by two gunmen, deputies said.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office said it received a 911 call Wednesday morning about a woman who was shot near Nashville Avenue and 20th Street.

Deputies said they found Lisa Manahan, 48, who suffered life-threatening injuries, in the area.  She was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Terrance Garrett, 36, told deputies that he witnessed a possible robbery and tried to help the woman when he was also shot.  He was taken to ORMC with non-life-threatening injuries.

"He tried to intervene as a Good Samaritan, and he was shot as well," said Orange County Detective Lourdes Clayton.  "He helped her and he tried to run away and that's when he was shot."

Video from the scene showed a purse in a street roped off with crime tape.

"They need to have the officers patrol the area more often in this area," neighbor Lottie Williams said.  "(It's) very scary because we have kids living in the neighborhood."

The gunmen ran off after the shooting, and deputies did not release a detailed description of them.
