DAYTONA BEACH SHORES, Fla. – A tourist walking on the beach with her children was struck by a drunken driver, run over and killed Tuesday night in Daytona Beach Shores, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said Elizabeth Braly, 45, of North Carolina, was hit around 9:30 p.m. at the end of Dunlawton Boulevard, near the beach access toll booth.
Shawn Doolan, 35, of New Smyrna Beach, was later arrested on charges of DUI manslaughter and two counts of DUI with damage to persons or property.
The FHP said Doolan was driving a 2002 Nissan sedan and plowed through closed gates leading to the beach, knocking down the toll booth and striking Braly.
Deputies released the 911 calls on Wednesday, describing the crash.
"I'm so sorry somebody just busted through the life guard stand here in a vehicle and ... somebody has been run over somebody has been run over we are at South Atlantic Avenue," one caller told dispatchers.
"I seen a girl screaming in the sand and the car, and there was someone laying under it. It was kind of scary," witness Cheryl Hatton said. "It was pretty loud. I've never seen nothing like this before -- not on the beach."
No other family members, who were walking ahead of Braly, were injured.
A friend of the Braly family said one of her sons and a group of bystanders tried lifting the car off Braly in an effort to save her.
"I was sitting up there praying, going, 'Please, please, please,' because we could actually see them try to resuscitate her," witness Shana Rye said.
The family friend also said Braly's husband left for North Carolina the previous day but was headed back to Central Florida after learning about the crash.
According to her sister, Braly was a mother of seven teenagers and a grandmother of four.
On Wednesday, flowers were left on the beach near the accident scene and a vigil will be held Wednesday night at 9:30 p.m.
Troopers said Doolan, who remained at the scene, was speeding, but the FHP did not estimate how fast his car was traveling at the time of the crash.
Doolan was arrested and booked into the Volusia County Jail. He was later released after posting a $12,000 bond, walking out of the jail with a comforter over his head.
