Woman shot, killed at Sanford insurance agency

Police search for shooter

SANFORD, Fla. – A female insurance agent was shot and killed at her Sanford office on Monday, according to police.

The shooting occurred around 12:15 p.m. at McGee Insurance, located at 400 West 25th Street.

Police said 53-year-old Cynthia McGee Bryant was killed in the shooting and that they don't have any reason to think the shooting was a robbery attempt.

Friends of the victim tell Local 6 she doesn't have any known enemies and they don't know why anyone would want to kill her.

Tiffanye Williams, McGee Bryant's hairdresser, told Local 6 a friend walked into the victim's office and found her with a gunshot wound to the head Monday afternoon. Then that friend immediately called 911.

"I want them to be punished for what they did. I want to know why they did that to her? What could she have done so bad for them to kill her like that?" said Williams.

According the friends of McGee Bryant, she was also a minister and involved in the community.

"She would help me. She always gave me good advice. She was like a role model to me. She was a really good woman," said Williams.

Sanford police are searching for the shooter. They say they are tracking down several leads, but will not elaborate.

Investigators in both Sanford and Seminole County say they haven't had any contact with McGee Bryant, other than traffic tickets.

No other details have been released, and an investigation is ongoing.
