Woman shot while sitting in car with 4-year-old daughter

Lady Lake police search for gunman

LADY LAKE, Fla. – Lady Lake police have released a composite sketch of the gunman they say shot a 24-year-old woman while she was sitting in her car with her 4-year-old daughter.

The woman, identified by a family member as Natasha Masoline, was shot in the shoulder around 8 a.m. Monday as she sat at a stop sign at Lake Ella Road and April Hills Boulevard.

According to Lady Lake police, Masoline was taking her daughter to preschool when a gunman walked up to the car and shot the woman.  The girl was not harmed, police said.

The woman was taken to Ocala Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Lady Lake Police Chief Chris McKinstry said.  She underwent surgery but was expected to be OK, McKinstry said.

Witnesses told Local 6 they saw two men walk up to the car and then run away.

"Thank God.  Thank God that she's OK and thank God that my niece isn't worse than she is, too," said Ernest Pinkard, the victim's uncle.

McKinstry said the shooting does not appear to be a random act, but no details about the relationship between the victim and the shooter have been released.

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call Lady Lake police.
