Woman tried to stab boyfriend with butcher knife in Melbourne Beach, police say
Kathryn McNealon faces assault charges
A woman who police said tried to stab her boyfriend with a butcher knife in Melbourne Beach over the weekend was in jail Monday.
The call came in about 7:45 p.m. Saturday, requesting officers check out a disturbance on Riverview Lane in a riverside neighborhood off Oak Street north of Gemini Elementary School, according to Local 6 News partner Florida Today.
Police determined at the scene that Kathryn McNealon, 54, was arguing with her boyfriend and “grabbed a large butcher knife and attempted to stab her boyfriend in the chest,” a news release says.
The man wrestled the knife from the woman’s hand, and police said the woman fled the area.
Police dogs and the Brevard County sheriff’s helicopter were called in to search for McNealon, who was eventually found hours later by Sgt. Rick Dovale a few streets away. McNealon had blood on her arms and hands, injuries police said were sustained as the woman tried to flee and hide in some bushes.
McNealon, who records show lives in Clearwater, is charged with aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony and battery domestic violence. She is being held in Brevard County Jail.
