Women arrested after beating 74-year-old man with cutting board, cops say

Duo stole prescription medication from man's home in attack

APOPKA, Fla. – Two women were arrested Wednesday after deputies say they beat an Apopka man with a cutting board before stealing his prescription medication.

The brutal attack happened inside 74-year-old Ronald Hollingsworth's mobile home at the Clarcona Resort in south Apopka.

"My heart's broken that somebody would do something like this," said Ed Hollingsworth, the victim's son. "Not that it's just my father, that it could happen to anybody."

Ed Hollingswoth said the women, Tosha Mullins, 29, and Britney Telegdy, 26, basically tricked his dad by saying they were locked out of their home and didn't want to wait in the cold.

When they got inside, they began hitting Ronald Hollingsworth in the face and head before stealing his prescription medication, according to deputies.

"All he's done is be kind to these people," said Ed Hollingsworth. "He's elderly, has fourth stage kidney disease, he's fixing to go on dialysis, he needs his medication. And for somebody to do that because they need to get a drug fix is ridiculous."

News 6 was there as both women were taken into custody about 13 hours after the alleged beating. It appears they were caught after selling the drugs they stole from Robert Hollingsworth.

"I didn't think it was going to happen this quick," said Ed Hollingsworth. "I'm very pleased with social media and the way the word got out and the way folks got together in Apopka and surrounding areas to help us find these people."

Both women are in the process of being booked into the Orange County jail.
