SANFORD, Fla. – A group of college students marching in protest of the Trayvon Martin shooting completed their 40-mile march from Daytona Beach, Volusia County to Sanford.
The students, who call themselves the Dream Defenders, completed the last leg of their three-day march Sunday afternoon.
Among the students who have participated in the weekend march include those from the University of Florida, Florida A&M University, the University of Miami, Florida State University, and Atlanta's Morehouse College.
The students held a rally Sunday evening at Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church in Sanford, followed by a worship service.
The Dream Defenders said they are composed of a diverse array of young leaders from across the country with one common goal -- to work in solidarity to incite generational change and make global impact.
Sanford police said George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watchman, shot and killed Martin. Zimmerman said the February shooting was in self-defense, and he has not been arrested or charged.
The State Attorney's Office is investigating, although it remains unclear when a decision will be announced on whether charges will be filed in the case.
