In the early morning hours, before the sun starts to shine on Central Florida and most of us are sleeping soundly, Jacquie Sosa has already had her cup of coffee and is hard at work.

The self-avowed “morning person” would have it no other way. As co-anchor of Local 6 First News, Jacquie is on a mission to bring viewers the news they need early and accurately.

Before joining the Local 6 team, Jacquie worked in South Florida as anchor and reporter for WPLG-TV Local 10 in Miami.

Jacquie was born in New Jersey but was raised in South Florida and graduated Cum Laude from the University of Miami with a double major: Broadcast Journalism and Political Science

Jacquie's first job as a journalist took her away from the Sunshine State to Terre Haute, Indiana where she pulled "double duty" working as both an anchor and producer of the morning show from 1998 to 1999.

One of Jacquie’s most memorable stories was a special report on unclaimed cash. Jacquie discovered $70,000 that belonged to a retired woman, who had no idea she was entitled to the sizeable amount of money.

"That money had belonged to her mother, who passed away several years earlier. She didn't know all that cash was being held in a state bank account until I showed up at her door," Sosa said.

Jacquie and her husband Al and two daughters are excited to now make Central Florida their home.

“There is so much to do here -- from shopping for antiques - to of course, all the awesome theme parks. And the people are great. I've never met more down to earth people in all my life,” said Jacquie.
