New York, NY -- (Sports Network) - Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner, New Orleans Saints defensive tackle Anthony Hargrove and Buccaneers kick returner Clifton Smith have been named the NFC's top players for Week 9 of the NFL season.

Warner was named the offensive player of the week after matching a career high with five touchdown passes in the Cardinals' 41-21 win at Chicago on Sunday. He completed 22-of-32 passes for 261 yards and no interceptions, a performance that came a week after he was picked off five times in a loss to Carolina.

Hargrove helped keep the Saints undefeated by recording two fumble recoveries, one of which he forced and returned for a touchdown, in New Orleans' 30-20 win over the Panthers. He also finished with three tackles, but his signature moment came late in the contest, when he forced a fumble and returned it a yard for a touchdown to seal the victory.

Smith was named the special teams player of the week for his 161 total return yards and three special teams tackles in Tampa Bay's 38-28 victory over Green Bay on Sunday, the team's first win of the season. Included in his returns was an 83-yard run to set up a score.

Tampa Bay rookie quarterback Josh Freeman was considered for the offensive award, as were Dallas signal-caller Tony Romo and Atlanta running back Michael Turner. Defensive consideration went to New Orleans' Will Smith and Seattle's David Hawthorne, while Seattle's Olindo Mare was among the nominees for special teams.
