New York, NY -- (Sports Network) - Matt Bradley pumped in the go-ahead goal with 4:51 remaining in the third period, as the Washington Capitals posted a 4-2 win over the New York Rangers in Alex Ovechkin's return to the lineup. The Russian sniper had missed the previous six games due to an upper-body strain, but made an immediate impact with a power-play goal for Washington. Brooks Laich and Brian Pothier also lit the lamp for the Capitals, who have recorded at least a point in 14 of their last 16 games (11-2-3). Mike Green collected two assists and Semyon Varlamov made 18 saves in a winning effort. Marian Gaborik scored both goals for the Rangers, who have dropped three of four. Henrik Lundqvist stopped 22 of the 25 shots he faced in defeat.Final Score: Montreal 3, Carolina 2 (SO) Montreal, QC (Sports Network) - Maxim Lapierre scored the only goal in six shootout rounds while Carey Price made an astonishing save to preserve the win, as the Montreal Canadiens edged the Carolina Hurricanes, 3-2, at Bell Centre. Andrei Kostitsyn and Max Pacioretty scored in regulation for Montreal, which has won two of its last three games. Price finished with 30 saves and Tomas Plekanec assisted on both goals in the winning effort. Brandon Sutter and Jussi Jokinen scored for the woeful Hurricanes, who fell to 1-5-2 in the month of November. Michael Leighton started between the pipes for Carolina and finished with 10 saves. Manny Legace took over in the second period and he allowed one goal on 24 shots. Final Score: Ottawa 3, Toronto 2 Ottawa, ON (Sports Network) - Mike Fisher scored twice, including the game- winner late in the second period, and Pascal Leclaire made it stand up with a solid outing in net, as Ottawa took a 3-2 decision from Toronto at Scotiabank Place. Milan Michalek netted a power-play goal to account for the other score, while Leclaire turned back 30-of-32 shots for the Senators, who came in having lost back-to-back games. Alexandre Picard, Chris Campoli and Alex Kovalev each notched two assists in the win. Phil Kessel and Niklas Hagman got the goals for the Maple Leafs, who have lost four in a row since beating Carolina and Detroit on consecutive nights to post their only winning streak of the year. Vesa Toskala was tested with 21 shots and allowed all three scores. Final Score: Nashville 4, San Jose 3 Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - David Legwand was credited with the game- winning goal midway through the second period to lead the Nashville Predators to a 4-3 win over the San Jose Sharks at Sommet Center. Steve Sullivan, Jerred Smithson and Joel Ward also scored for Nashville, which has won three straight games. Pekka Rinne allowed three goals on 32 shots in the win. Scott Nichol, Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau tallied for the Sharks, who failed to record at least one point for the first time in 13 games (9-1-3). Thomas Greiss finished with 27 saves in the losing effort. Final Score: Colorado 3, Calgary 2 Calgary, AB (Sports Network) - Cody McLeod and Milan Hejduk scored 66 seconds apart late in the second period, as the Colorado Avalanche maintained their perch atop the Northwest Division standings with a 3-2 win over Calgary at the Pengrowth Saddledome. Ryan Wilson pumped in his first NHL goal and collected an assist for the Avalanche, who snapped a three-game winless streak. Paul Stastny recorded two assists and Craig Anderson, making his 20th start of the season, stopped 34 shots for his 12th win. Jarome Iginla and Rene Bourque lit the lamp for the Flames, who had picked up at least a point in their previous six games (5-0-1). Miikka Kiprusoff allowed three goals on 24 shots to take the loss.
