MAITLAND, Fla. -- Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama toured Central Florida after avoiding the state since last fall.
Obama attended a fundraising event in Maitland Wednesday night after a rally and town hall meeting in Tampa and Kissimmee.
"My strategy to win in Florida is the same strategy I have all across the country, and that is to talk about the issues that have an impact on the American people," Obama said.
Obama said he would not be afraid if Sen. John McCain chose Florida Gov. Charlie Crist as a vice presidential running mate.
"What people are going to be looking at is who is at the top of the ticket and what issues are they offering, and I don't think they going to want to see a third Bush term in the guise of a John McCain presidency," Obama said.
Obama is seeking to mend fences in a key general election state snubbed by the Democratic National Committee.
The DNC stripped Florida of its delegates in September because its primary was held before Feb. 5. Both candidates signed a pledge nine months ago that kept them from campaigning here before the Jan. 29 primary.
