Orlando Obama Celebration Spills Into Streets, Forces Road Closures
'I Love This Country,' Woman Says
Nearly 4,000 people attended a rally hosted by Sen. Bill Nelson at the History Center in downtown Orlando. Other Obama supporters took to the streets of Orlando, celebrating by running into the streets, jumping on cars, chanting "We got change" and honking horns."I'm speechless. I am just speechless," said a mother who was holding a baby and was surrounded by other children. "What do you guys, say?""This is awesome," one of the children said. "The first black president."Several people were crying over an accomplishment they said they never thought they could have witnessed: an African-American being elected as president of the United States."Did you believe it could happen?" a reporter asked an unidentified woman."I didn't. I didn't. I didn't," she said. "Oh, my God. I love this country.""This is the Martin Luther King dream," a man said. "It has been realized."Sean Kane picked his child up from his wheelchair so his son could "dance" with the crowd after it was announced that Obama had won the race."He was just real excited, and I wanted him to experience it so that he would remember it when he gets to be older," Kane said.Watch Local 6 News for more on this story.
