Toys 'R' Us Says Products Have Been Tested
POSTED: Thursday, August 16, 2007
An environmental group said it has found vinyl baby bibs from China that have excessive levels of lead. The bibs were found at Toys "R" Us stores and Babies "R" Stores in California. The Center for Environmental Health in Oakland said it took the bibs to a private lab for testing and notified Toys "R" Us. Now, the group says it plans to sue unless the retailer pulls the bibs off store shelves in California.A Toys "R" Us spokeswoman said testing done in May showed the bibs met both federal and the stricter California standards. Still, she said more testing will be done. The bibs in question are store-brand bibs sold under the Koala Baby and Especially for Baby labels. The group has more information about its findings on its Web site.
