Dany Heatley's two goals and Jason Spezza's goal and two assists helped the Ottawa Senators double up the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-3 at Mellon Arena. Wade Redden recorded a goal and an assist, while Martin Gerber stopped 14-of-17 shots for Ottawa, which put the brakes on a five-game losing skid. The Senators remained unbeaten in the last eight meetings versus the Penguins. Maxime Ouellet and Evgeni Malkin notched a goal and one assist, while Maxime Talbot scored once. Jaromir Jagr had three assists and Henrik Lundqvist stopped 28 shots for the Rangers, who have won two straight and four of their last five contests. Ilya Kovalchuk had a goal and an assist and Kari Lehtonen, making his first start in five games, was shelled for five goals on 25 shots for the Thrashers, who had a four-game winning streak snapped.Detroit 3, Nashville 0
Dominik Hasek stopped all 21 shots he faced to record his second straight shutout and third of the season, as Detroit bested Nashville 3-0. Robert Lang and Nicklas Lidstrom both scored for the Red Wings, who have won eight straight games. Pavel Datsyuk had two assists in Detroit's fifth straight home win. Tomas Vokoun made 37 saves for the Predators, who had a franchise-best seven- game road winning streak halted. Nashville had won its last five games overall. It marked the first time in 10 games that the Predators failed to record a point. After starting the season 0-3-0, Nashville went 9-0-1 before running into Hasek.Buffalo 5, Florida 4 (OT)
Thomas Vanek scored just 19 seconds into overtime to give the Buffalo Sabres a 5-4 win over the Florida Panthers at HSBC Arena. Vanek finished the game with two goals and Ales Kotalik had a goal and an assist for the Sabres, who have won two straight and three of four. Martin Biron stopped 15 shots for Buffalo, which came back from a two-goal deficit to win a game for the sixth time this season. Gary Roberts had a goal and an assist and Alexander Auld stopped 21 shots for the Panthers, who have lost two straight and five of their last six.Chicago 3, St. Louis 1
Radim Vrbata's two first period power-play scores provided enough spark to send the Chicago Blackhawks to a 3-1 win over the St. Louis Blues at the United Center. Bryan Smolinski scored his fourth of the year, and Jeffrey Hamilton picked up two assists. Sebastien Caron earned the win in his season debut, stopping 24 shots for the Blackhawks, who snapped an eight-game losing streak. Lee Stempniak and Keith Tkachuk were the only players to register points for the Blues, who have lost six of their last seven games. Curtis Sanford took the loss, halting only 15-of-17 shots.Calgary 3, Anaheim 0
Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 37 shots for his second shutout of the season as Calgary did something no other team had been able to do this season, defeat Anaheim in regulation, and the Flames accomplished the task with a 3-0 win at Pengrowth Saddledome. Tony Amonte had a goal and an assist and Matthew Lombardi and Daymond Langkow each had a goal for the Flames, who have won three straight. Ilya Bryzgalov let up two goals on three shots and Jean-Sebastien Giguere replaced him in the second period and stopped all 14 shots he faced for Anaheim, which was 12-0-4 this year coming into the game set a new NHL record for most games to start a season without a regulation loss.
