Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Petr Sykora and Evgeni Malkin each tallied two goals and two assists, as the Pittsburgh Penguins ripped the Philadelphia Flyers, 7-1, at Mellon Arena. Hal Gill added a goal and assist, while Tyler Kennedy tallied, and Marian Hossa scored in his home debut for the red-hot Penguins. They have won three in a row, and scored 18 goals in the span, including back-to-back seven-goal games. The Penguins also moved into the fourth spot in the Eastern Conference playoff race with 89 points, breaking a tie with Ottawa, which lost to Carolina on Sunday. Pittsburgh is now just a point behind idle New Jersey, which holds the top spot in both the Atlantic Division and the conference. Mike Knuble scored the only goal for Philadelphia, whose losing streak reached four games. The Flyers, who currently occupy the eighth playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with 80 points, failed to put any distance between themselves and idle Buffalo, which sits just one point back. Philadelphia, which occupies the eighth spot, lost Sunday and stayed at 80 points. Cristobal Huet allowed just one goal on 40 shots, and made 17 saves in a scoreless third period for Washington. Chuck Kobasew tallied for Boston, which has lost four of five, but gained a point and has 83 on the season. The Bruins moved into a tie with the New York Rangers for sixth.
