Austin, TX (Sports Network) - Dexter Pittman had a career-high 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to help No. 8 Texas crush Appalachian State, 78-43. Gary Johnson had 16 points and nine boards for the Longhorns (11-2), who have won two in a row since a 67-63 loss to Michigan State on December 20. Damion James chipped in 14 points and 13 rebounds. Kellen Brand had 12 points for the Mountaineers (5-5), who have lost three of their last four games.

Corvallis, OR (Sports Network) - Darren Collison and Michael Roll each scored 16 points to lead 12th-ranked UCLA to a 69-46 win over Oregon State in the Pac-10 opener for both schools. Drew Gordon added 11 points, while Collison had four assists and Alfred Aboya grabbed seven rebounds for the Bruins (11-2, 1-0 Pac-10), who have won seven consecutive games. Calvin Haynes had 16 points to pace Oregon State (5-6, 0-1), which had a four-game win streak snapped. But no other Beavers player reached double figures, as Omari Johnson, Rickey Claitt and Seth Tarver each recorded seven points in the loss.

Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - Andy Rautins had 14 points and added seven rebounds to lead 13th-ranked Syracuse past South Florida, 59-54, at USF Sun Dome. Arinze Onuaku had 13 points and 10 rebounds while Jonny Flynn added 11 points and six boards for the Orange (14-1, 2-0 Big East), who have won five straight. Dominique Jones had 17 points and five rebounds while Mobolaji Ajayi added 15 points and seven boards for the Bulls (5-8, 0-1), who have dropped three of four.

Palo Alto, CA (Sports Network) - Jeff Pendergraph poured in a career-high 31 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, as No. 17 Arizona State routed Stanford, 90-60, in the Pac-10 opener for both schools. James Harden added 17 points and 10 assists for the Sun Devils (12-1, 1-0 Pac-10), who have won eight straight games. Derek Glasser ended with 13 points and six helpers in the win. Lawrence Hill tallied 14 points for the Cardinal (10-1, 0-1), who will next face Arizona on Sunday. Anthony Goods gave nine points in defeat.

Waco, TX (Sports Network) - Zam Fredrick's layup with five seconds left was the difference, and the South Carolina Gamecocks recorded an impressive 85-84 road victory over the 19th-ranked Baylor Bears. Fredrick had 19 points, while Devan Downey scored 23 points and dished out eight assists for the Gamecocks (10-2), who have won six of seven. Mike Holmes had 11 points and seven rebounds, while Dominique Archie and Brandis Raley-Ross each had 10 points in the victory. Curtis Jerrells had a team-high 22 points, 10 assists and six rebounds for the Bears (12-2), who lost for the first time in 10 home games. Tweety Carter tallied 18 points, while Henry Dugat had 16 points and eight rebounds. Kevin Rogers posted 14 points and 13 rebounds in the loss.
