Basketball's Greatest Shot?

Minnesota Kid Puts Up A Doozy

Talk about sitting pretty. If Hollywood would have scripted this high school basketball drama, moviegoers might guffaw in disbelief. But it happened. And the Minnesota kid who tossed "the shot" toward the basket still can't believe he made it.

Hopkin's Blake Hoffarber hit a buzzer-beater while lying on his back in the Class 4A State Championship game against Eastview Saturday night. The shot sent the game into a second overtime -- and helped the Royals win the title.

The teams were tied 56-56 in the first overtime when Darren Kent scored with 2.5 seconds left to put Eastview up by two.

That set up one of the wildest shots ever. Andrew Henke threw the inbounds pass the length of the court, and the ball bounced around and into the hands of Hoffarber, who fell down in the scrum.

Hoffarber then shot the ball from flat on his back to tie the game as the buzzer sounded, and forced the second overtime. He finished with 25 points, and a story to tell forever.
