Jason Dufner capped off a 7-under-par 64 on Friday to seize a share of the lead with Ryan Palmer after the first round of the Phoenix Open at Scottsdale, Ariz.

Dufner carded two birdies in five holes to finish the round, which was suspended on Thursday due to darkness.

Dufner is attempting to avenge last year's playoff loss to Mark Wilson at this event.

Palmer was 8-under through his first 15 holes before his lone bogey left him one shot ahead of Webb Simpson, who had six birdies in a seven-hole stretch in his round of 65.

Bo Van Pelt and Spencer Levin joined Simpson by trailing the leaders by one stroke.
